The Five Zones of Riyadh Techno Valley

With the overall vision to create a Science Park that fosters an environment of innovation and collaboration between knowledge-based institutions and industrial partners, the RTV planning team held a series of workshops and jointly designed a Development Brief. Evaluated against a third party Market Study the following major development clusters have been adopted to generate a vibrant mixed-use Knowledge Campus. The magnitude of each component was based on benchmarking of similar target developments while keeping in mind current possible stakeholder requirements.

The following are the potential technology clusters adopted:

Bio Valley (Biotechnology)

Composed of leading companies in research and development in the fields of pharmacology, environment technology, and food science.

CheMe Valley (Chemical Technology and Materials)

It includes leading companies in research and development in the fields of petrochemical, materials, chemical materials, and energy.

ICT Valley (Informatics Technologies and Communications)

It includes leading companies in research and development in the areas of information and communications technology and information security.

Tech Nucleus (Catalytic Core)

The catalytic heart of the Science Park which houses the incubators and the Centre for Entrepreneurs, the Office of Support Services of Operations Research and Intellectual Property, laboratories to serve the local market, as well as governmental centers for research and development.

Each technological cluster will jointly incorporate a Science Village which will serve as the educational and recreational core of the project. This zone will cater to workers in the science park in addition to visitors from within and outside the city of Riyadh.
