In completion to the Memorandum understanding agreement between SABIC & KSU signed before, On Wednesday 18, March 2009, King Saud University represented by its President Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman and a delegation from SABIC represented by Dr. Abdurrahman bin Saleh Al-Obaid, the Vice President of Research & Technology for SABIC signed an Agreement between both parties related to construction of SABIC Center for Development of Plastic Applications.
This agreement proved the strong relationship between KSU & the Private Sectors that shall result in building the Knowledge-based- Society.
The new center will be an area of one hundred thousand square meters at a cost capacity of (375) million riyals and aims to develop specialized applications and advanced plastic, covering the areas of industrial development based on the national program for the development of industrial clusters and other industries such as automobile industries, tires, accessories, and industries Electronics and household appliances, fiber and packaging materials, pipes, accessories and supplies medical care and applications resulting from the mixing of different polymers to service industries and customers in the Kingdom and all the nations of the world with access to SABIC products. It is expected to employ nearly (100) specialists and scholars from distinguished professionals and the Center will contribute in increasing the scientific and research-oriented universities and establishing the link between university researchers, manufacturers and end in the plastics industry.
